The impact of Mental Health, Trauma & Epigenetics on black men

In our first podcast we interview Marvin Authur of Arthur Counselling who goes in-depth on Mental Health, Trauma & Epigenetics. In the wake of social injustice, the murder of George Floyd and countless other black lives Marvin shares how we should respond and become upstanders.

Marvin Arthur is a registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist and has experience working with young children, adolescence and their families. He began his career with the Children’s Aid Society and has experience in the following: parenting capacity assessments, conflict resolution, crises intervention, child safety assessment, custody and care access, parent and teen conflicts, and home assessments.Marvin has also been a private practitioner and has ample experience counseling couples and individuals who experience depression, anxiety, marriage conflict and other social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Furthermore, his portfolio includes bereavement and social skills counseling. Marvin also has the ability to practice from a Christian perspective.At present he is employed by the Peel District School Board as a School Social Worker and provides a range of supports to address family disputes, low self-esteem issues, anxiety and depression concerns to students and their families.He has a bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work degree. Marvin is also a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
